The truth behind my driving licence.

HELLO!
Today's post is gonna be about this photo:

Not sure if you've seen it around on the Internet recently, but I'm here to tell everyone what happened. AND to address some people who think they know it all.


So on the 2nd of February 2015, I made my way to the JPJ branch over at Taman Jaya since it was a public holiday in KL.

When it was my turn, I went to the counter, gave the guy a passport photo of myself, my P licence, and MYR 150 since I wanted to renew the licence for 5 years.

This is the passport photo I submitted:

For those out there who are doubting that the licence actually belongs to me, look at my nametag:

So the guy issued me my receipt, and after checking the passport photo and P licence to make sure they're mine, he told me to head over to a small counter where they process/print the new licences. And so I did.

Then when my name got called, I received this:

THAT'S MY LICENCE (MY NAME, MY ADDRESS, MY IC NUMBER, ETC), BUT NOT MY PICTURE.

In my original post, I did hashtag #mynamebutnotmypic.

However, there are some out there accusing me of being racist/ignorant, saying that the post was inconsiderate due to my lack of awareness that the guy in the picture might have been adopted or is a Chindian.

I'd like to clear the air:

I posted the picture on social media as it was funny to me coz that's MY licence with someone else's face, not because I'm laughing at a dear Indian guy with a Chinese name, hence the hashtag #mynamebutnotmypic


Also, just as an FYI, Hui Min is generally a female's name. I have yet to meet a guy called Hui Min.





Now, to those who think I Photoshopped the licence...

Here's a screenshot my friend took on Snapchat (Thanks ah Sarah, now I scared to send you snaps liao coz you will screenshot one).

Notice the Snapchat timer and text banner? The crowd in JPJ's office in the background? I highly doubt anyone would bother Photoshopping all of that. It's just not worth the time and effort. 

Anyway, I did request for a new licence, and JPJ was super efficient and nice about it. The guy at the counter admitted that it was a mistake and issued me a new one (this time with my photo!).

Hope this clarifies any doubts.
